As I reflect on our remarkable celebration in Montego Bay, Jamaica, marking 25 years with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I am overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. It was more than just an anniversary; it was a reaffirmation of our deep bonds of sisterhood and our shared commitment to service and empowerment.
Our festivities began in the heart of Montego Bay, a place as warm and inviting as the sisters I was surrounded by. The serene backdrop of the Caribbean Sea was the perfect setting to share not only our achievements and aspirations but also my latest labor of love, my book The Sun is Rising: 10 Strategies to Get You Unstuck, Find Your Voice, Walk Your Purpose, Live Passionately, and Step Outside of Your Box.
This book is a culmination of my personal and professional journey, woven with the challenges, triumphs, and lessons that have shaped me. Sharing this story with my sisters was incredibly special. Their excitement and support were palpable, fueling an even deeper connection among us. The book signing that followed was not just an event, but a celebration of collective empowerment. Their open hearts—and open purses!—not only embraced my story but also the journey we all share in striving to live purposefully and passionately. Our first international book signing was a memorable milestone. I was thrilled to engage in heartfelt discussions, sign copies of my book, and see the genuine enthusiasm for the messages I hoped to convey. The interaction was a vivid reminder of the powerful impact we can have through shared experiences and mutual support.
Looking ahead, I am filled with anticipation for our upcoming book signing in Phenix City, Alabama, coupled with the Mindful Wellness Event. This event promises to merge health, wellness, and community engagement, reflecting our sorority’s dedication to holistic well-being. It's an exciting next step in taking our message of empowerment and health across the country.
